Coconuts for KohalaJoin the Coconut Revolution!  Carolyn Mondress and Tim Head of Coconuts for Kohala will lead a free community workshop to share the remarkable and largely unrecognized nutritional and medicinal qualities of the coconut, and inspire us to take part in a plan for long-term food security in Kohala.  Learn how to plant, care for, harvest and process the “Polynesian Tree of Life”, and watch as Tim and Carolyn demonstrate a new generation of coconut tools from India that can make life easier, quicker and safer for anyone attempting to process coconuts at home.

Carolyn and Tim have grown hundreds of coconuts since moving to Kohala in 1993. They are longtime observers of coconut cultural practices in Indonesia, Thailand and India.  They are actively involved in the Coconuts for Kohala movement that encourages residents to plant coconut palms with an eye on the future.

The Sustainable Saturdays Series is co-sponsored with Sustainable Kohala
